In front of me there was a big blackboard on the wall. After a few minutes a teacher entered the classroom. I gave the chit to him. He wrote my name in the register. The teacher was an interesting fellow. He passed a few funny remarks. At the recess bell we rushed out of classroom. It was the leisure time. Some boys approached me. Fortunately three boys ran for my help.
They took me round the school building. They showed me reading room and library. I found the school hall beau tifully decorated with paintings. You can think of my joy when I was told that I would be sent to a new school. I got up early in the morning of 8th April to get myself prepared. With my tutor I started towards my new school. On the way it began to rain. When we reached the school we were completely wet. The sight of the grand building made me nervous.
I felt somewhat uneasy. I entered the office where I found four people sitting behind the counter. My tutor got a form from one of them He filled it. My tutor gave the form to him. He looked at it carefully. He struck a bell. At once a peon rushed in. He ordered him to take us to the staff room. The peon led us to the room where I found the teachers seated round a long table.
He gave the form to one of them. The teacher put my knowledge to test in English. He found me up to the mark. Then I was enrolled as a student.
The Headmaster allowed me to attend the class. My father left me in the class room and went away. I was about to cry. However, the kind behavior of the Headmaster and the class teacher soothed my feelings. The quality of nervousness vanished from me. He patted me on my back. I replied some of his questions promptly. He also advised me to purchase the text books.
At first, I was not able to understand why there were so many teachers. The class teacher left our class and another teacher came. All the students in our class again stood up. Other students looked at me curiously. The teacher wrote some words on the blackboard.
Then the bell rang. In that class, a new teacher asked us to read a passage from a book.
It is natural on the part of every student to remember the first day at school. It gave me a terrible feeling of fear and anxiety as I went to school with my father.
